How Atkins Works - Atkins Nutritional Principles

The Atkins Nutritional Principles are the base of its working. By adopting these principles, you can gain the success of its four phases that would change your entire life. These principles are supported by a solid foundation of medical and nutritional scientific research. 

The four Atkins Nutritional Principles are:

  • Weight Loss
    Your body burns Carbohydrate as the first fuel to be metabolized. When you cut down your intake of carbohydrates, your body converts from the burning of carbohydrate to burning fat as the main energy resource. The result-weight loss.
     
  • Weight Maintenance
    Everyone has a synchronized carbohydrate level that performs fat burning and weight loss. This is called your Critical Carbohydrate Level for Losing (CCLL). Everyone also has a level of carbohydrate intake on that weight stands constant. This is known as your Atkins Carbohydrate Equilibrium (ACE).
